I met Charles when I was a freshman at the university. The guy was so charming and I really liked him. We became friends and talked often. I had hope that we will one day be in a relationship, but Charles wasn’t ready. He said he just got out of one relationship and he wasn’t ready for any commitment at the time, but he wanted us to still remain friends.
We remained friends for almost 3 years. Yes, I waited and waited… I didn’t date any other man during this period. Then finally, after almost 3 years, Charles finally asked me out on a date. I was super excited. He invited me for dinner at a restaurant.
I was already on my way to the restaurant when I suddenly got a text from Charles saying, “Sorry, I’ll have to cancel our date.” I was disgusted by the text and I parked my car to reread it again properly. I said to myself, “Did this guy just cancel our first date through a text message?” I decided to call him, to ask why he’s canceling. To my surprise, he said, “Oh sorry, some of my guys came around. So, I can’t make it.” I couldn’t believe it. Already in tears, I responded, “Did you just choose your guys over me? It’s our first date for goodness sake.” He replied, “C’mon, stop crying. Why are you even crying? It’s just a date. I’ll talk to you later.” He ended the call.
Not satisfied by such explanation, I drove to his place. On getting there, I met one of his friends outside. I asked the friend, “What are you guys doing in there?” He said, “Oh, we’re just drinking, hanging out and playing video games.” Imagine, he chose that over me??? I didn’t bother to go in. I drove back home, crying. I felt like a fool for wasting almost 3 precious years on this unserious dude.
Now, I’m picking up my pieces and hoping for a better man to give me true love. Lesson learned… Ladies, if he says he’s not ready for a commitment, do not wait!!! Just move on immediately.
SHIIIT HAPPENS GUYS!
