Back when I was in university, my friends and I did a lot of crazy things. We had to survive, so we hustled. I met Deji, an older, caring man in 2007. Although he is married with kids, he took care of me and we started dating. I wasn’t looking for marriage or anything, so I wasn’t going to break his home.

One day, my friend Ola advised me to play game on Deji to get more money from him. I called and told him that I was pregnant. I expected the usual story about abortion and not breaking his home from him. The plan was to tell Deji that I am pregnant, and collect money for care and abortion. It worked out perfectly and he gave me more money than I expected.

After 2 months, so I could get some massive compensation money from Deji again, Ola and I decided to carve out another plan. The plan this time around was to inform him that I went for check-up and the doctor said that my womb was ruptured during the abortion and I can’t have babies ever again.  The plan went smoothly once again. Deji was very caring and even bought me a car after, because he didn’t want me to be stressed. Well, my relationship with Deji lasted for 2 more years, then we somehow drifted apart.

Fast forward to this year, Alex (my boyfriend of 2 years) decided that he wanted me to meet his family. I was so excited! You know how hard it is to get young guys to commit. Our relationship was finally going to the next phase.

My nightmare began when we got to their house. Deji is Alex’s father. I haven’t shared my past with Alex because it is so embarrassing, plus I am not that type of girl anymore. Well, I decided to keep it civilized and see if Deji would do the same. I saw the shock on Deji’s face for a minute but he played it cool. Alex’s mom is also very charming and we all had a good time during the visit. After we left, I asked Alex if he thought his parents liked me and he said they did. I waited for a few more days to see if Alex would change towards me and nothing happened.

Last week, Alex proposed to me and I said yes. I love Alex so much and I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else. Well, Alex called me this weekend that he told his parents about our engagement and his father objected, saying he doesn’t think I can have kids. When they asked Alex’s father how he knew that I could not have kids, he said a pastor told him.  Now, because it is coming from a pastor, Alex’s mom is supporting the father.

What do I do now? Should I tell Alex the truth? This could break his family but I can’t let go my engagement and love for Alex. The whole abortion thing was a lie anyway, and I certainly don’t have any medical issues. Please advise me…
